Soup’s On: ‘Tis The Season

Valentine’s Day Dinner, originally uploaded by iLoveButter.

The resident genius of a web designer – responsible for all this site’s recent spit and polish – and I were flipping through the calendar and suddenly got to noticing that Le Jour d’amour is around the corner.

A naturally curious sort, he thought it would be fun to find out how listeners (especially those of the food blogging variety) ritualistically commerate the day (or don’t, as the case may be). What are we looking for? Any way you mark the day of love with lovely treats, really.  Your favorite chocolate for triggering that endorphin rush, the preferred vintage to fill those glasses clinking toasts. You are staring dewy-eyed across the table at [insert eatery here] over a shared plate of [insert appetizer here]. Just what are you cooking up to get to your valentine’s heart via their stomach?

Your submissions can be in the form of photographs, video or other multimedia, or a blog post or e-mail message. In many cases we can simply link out to your content. But, if you are a Flickr user, it would be terrific if you could submit your photos to the Kitchen’s Flickr group.

Now let the suggestions fly…like arrows from Cupid’s bow (sorry).

And finally, please don’t forget our first food blogger meet-up here at the station is slated for Febuary 27th 26th at 7 P.M. If out of the goodness of your heart you want to bring a dish or drink to share with the rest of the group…well far be it from me to discourage that kind of behavior.

As always feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or suggestions.

Oh, and hat tip to Erin Nichols of Erin Cooks, who is apparently blessed with the gift of precognition as she anticipated this post even before my fingers met keyboard. Please check out her mouth-watering homemade peppermint patties, perfect for that special chocolate-loving someone.

Yum.
